Shifting Gears // Aberdeen

Shifting gears is a low impact multi-functional development focused on decarbonising the fishing industry by converting its by-products into building materials and energy. By diversifying the sector and providing new job opportunities, the development promotes low impact catch and the reutilisation of materials. Seaweed and seashells are processed inside the structure to be transformed into building materials. The local fish market allows fishers to take ownership of their catch and sell their produce on site. The eatery encourages people to eat more seasonal and locally sourced seafood.

As a key part of the thesis, the Combined Thesis Report outlines the intentions and research of the project.
