Aberdeen Off-shore Wind Industry Training Centre // Aberdeen

Aberdeen is known for its oil and gas industry, but in recent years the city has been carrying out an energy transition. That includes the development of alternative energies.

Such transition brings a risk for practitioners in traditional industries. Aberdeen Regional skill assessment predicts a skill mismatch condition in the next decade, as traditional industries largely reduce employment demand while emerging ones lack qualified talent.

As a response, this project aims to support the energy transition by equipping people from different backgrounds with the skills required by the offshore wind industry. At the city level, it will be part of beach revival planning to provide public facilities to keep visitors staying, making energy transition more accessible for the public.

As a key part of the thesis, the Combined Thesis Report outlines the intentions and research of the project.
